Hobie's Desk

December 7, 2025

HOBIE'S DESK

Hi Camas Families,
Happy December! As we move into this season, our students continue to grow, show compassion, and strengthen our school community. This month, we’re focusing on Compassion—practicing empathy, caring for others, and ensuring everyone feels seen and supported. Through our Second Step curriculum, we are also emphasizing anti-bullying skills, helping students learn how to recognize, refuse, and report unkind behavior and how to be upstanders for their peers.
We are excited to share that Community Time begins four days a week starting Monday, 12/8/25, and will continue for the remainder of the school year. This is a core part of who we are at Camas Ridge, and we can’t wait to bring this tradition back in full.
Community Time: The Five Ws
  • Who? Multi-aged groups of students who meet with a Camas Ridge teacher four times a week.
  • What? A dedicated time to connect, collaborate, and build a strong, supportive community.
  • Where? In the community teacher’s classroom—students may meet in a classroom outside of their grade level.
  • When? Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for 30 minutes.
  • Why? Community Time brings our mission to life. It’s one of the defining features of Camas Ridge: a welcoming community of students, staff, and families committed to supporting one another’s learning experiences.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us. We’re so proud of their growth, compassion, and kindness. Wishing you a warm and joyful December!

CALLS FOR SUPPORT
Annual Winter Break Support for Camas Families - DONATE IF YOU CAN
This annual tradition has been going for well over a decade. It first began as a food drive, but now has transitioned into gift cards to help families better meet their unique needs. Help support 75 Camas students in need this winter with Fred Meyer gift cards for their families. CRCO has allocated over $3500 to this effort. All donations to increase support per family are welcome!

HELP CRCO GROW OUR GRADE BAND CONTACT LISTS!

This year the Camas Ridge Community Organization in an effort to help build stronger classroom communities & support our incredible teachers is creating grade level contact lists for our classroom liaisons. Liaisons are parent volunteers that work with the CRCO to coordinate things like classroom snacks, volunteers, and more! We are hoping that by being able to communicate directly to our classroom communities we can help forge stronger friendships, better meet the needs of our staff and make everyone feel more connected to Camas!

Keep an eye out for a printed grade band contact sheet in your December 19th Friday Folder!

Your information will be kept private unless you indicate that you are interested in being included in your grade band contact book.
